Cheerfulness on one face makes many hearts bloom

Cheerfulness is such a quality that it not only keeps up the spirits of the man who possesses it but also is of service to others. We may say that it is a ‘serviceable’ quality. A cheerful man may not utter even a single word but those who come into contact with him become happy . He who has sullen face and frowns with displeasure, is not liked by people. Hence however grave a situation becomes, man should never be displeased with him or be sad or lose zest.

Even if we can’t be happy, we must always be cheerful.

-  Irving Cristol

Cheerfulness is transmittable. It is easy to spread it. Being cheerful is a stress- buster for not only the one who adopts it in his life, but also for the surrounding people. Be it an office or a locality, a cheerful person wins several hearts. In the corporate sector, where strain, anxiety and constant pressure have become an indispensable part of people’s lives, being cheerful works as a magic wand.Cheerful people don’t yield to adversities. Some of the visible obstacles to cheerfulness are pessimism, impatience, worry, irritation, depression etc. Company of a cheerful person can  smooth the furrowed brow and bring a smile to pursed lips. Only people with optimism can imbibe this virtue in their lives.

The joys of parents are secret, and so are their grieves and fears”.

 Sir  Francis Bacon

Overview

Parenting a child is really a great responsibility to shoulder. Though the safest haven for a kid is his home but, according to a research, more than 4.5 million children are injured in the homes every year. Hence it is really very important to make the parents aware of   some of the safety ideas for kids.

Common household hazards

It is a ‘Herculean task’ to nurture a child and to ensure his safety from all the possible dangers. A few   precautionary measures and close supervision can protect your child from common   household hazards like fire in the kitchen or at the barbeque grill, water in the bathroom, swimming pool or a bathing tub, toxic substances in a closet, or a purse etc. If parents are not vigilant enough, a child can fall from a staircase or a slippery floor. Even   babies in walkers are not safe as they can fall over objects .Hence the parents should be conscious about  the safety ideas for kids.

Risks outside home

It is a great feeling to watch your kid   riding his bicycle on his own. But it is very important to make your child aware of  safety tips while riding a bike. They must wear helmet, follow traffic signals and road signs etc. Parents have to be watchful when their children are at play which will reduce playground injuries.

Supervision; the only remedy

Toddlers must be watched as they are fearless and do not know about the possible dangers. Medicines and poisonous substances should be placed out of their reach. Fire and smoke alarms should be installed. One should not run electrical wires under rugs as they can pose a danger for the children Choking can be easily prevented, if parents are vigilant.

A first-aid kit

One should have a first-aid kit at home as well as in the car to ensure safety and security of kids both inside and outside home. A first-aid kit should contain adhesive tape, elastic bandage, pair of scissors, thermometer, an antiseptic cream etc. Safety Ideas for kids should be a component of school curriculum as children tend to learn many things there.

Children need your presence more than your presents

Use the carrot not the stick to amend the children. The very presence of the parents means the world to them. Motivation should be provided to them. They should be praised often and should not be criticized in public. Parents should remember that kids are not perfect. They are fallible and can’t learn good habits overnight. Self discipline is far better than an imposed one. Spanking should not be used to improve their behavior. They should be trained in a way that when they grow up, they themselves know the value of safety ideas for kids, and hence can become better parents and  make this earth a better place to live in.

Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate.”
